ADRIENNE COUPER SMITH

INTIMACY COORDINATOR & INTIMACY DIRECTOR

BIO —

Adrienne (she/her) is a certified Intimacy Coordinator and Intimacy Director working across the USA and Australia.

One of the first certified Intimacy Coordinators in Australia, she trained in Los Angeles with Intimacy Professionals Association (IPA), under the mentorship of field pioneer Amanda Blumenthal. Her certification was supported by Screen Australia’s Enterprise funding.

With over 20 years in the industry, Adrienne brings a unique perspective from both performance and production. She began working professionally as an actor at 15, holds a BA in Acting and Film from Deakin University, and has worked with companies including Comedy Central, Network Ten, Princess Pictures, ABC, Women and Film, and Discordia Cine.

Recent credits include Hacks (MAX), the indie feature Pocket Dream (Discordia Cine/Simone Films/Anarene), and her ongoing role as resident intimacy and consent educator at COLLARTS University in Melbourne. Previous projects have screened and received awards at SXSW, SIFF, MIFF, and BFI.

Adrienne adapts her process to suit each project - from large scale productions to independent teams - centering consent forward, story driven intimate scenes. Her choreographic eye is informed by years of dance & movement training.

A dual citizen of Australia and the US, she works across Melbourne, Los Angeles, and New York.

Adrienne’s influence was twofold: creating a safe space, and aiding layered storytelling
